by admin on Jun.03, 2021, under RF Files
Pacific Northwest. Isolation. North American touring unreachable region. Longest unprotected border. Some of the reasons why Armoros, Karrion, Witches Hammer and Disciples of Power are not household names like Sacrifice, Slaughter, DBC or Soothsayer. Not cause the “metal” was not at par, that‘s for sure. We sat down with Jed Simon (Armoros, Strapping Young Lad, Zimmer’s Hole), Shawn Pitts (Karrion, Odds Crypt, Cull Human), Ray Prizmic (Witches Hammer) and Maurice Williams (Disciples of Power, Process) to discuss the wild wild 80’s Canadian West Coast metal scene. It is metal class time so pay attention and learn!!

The topic was the New York-Pittsburgh connection. It all started when Hank met Sharon at a Sacrifice/Anvil show in Toronto in 1988, and over the years our bands became friends, travelled together and made underground music. The bonds are strong, forged in fire, and we all got together to discuss that history tonight in a podcast organized and hosted by Sharon and John. Set aside 2 hours and enjoy it. This was a rare moment because our friendships span more than three decades but many of the stories have not been told.

by admin on Apr.26, 2021, under RF Files
AnneMarie Bowman might be well known for her great work with Metal Maniacs, but way before that she was one of the most important parts of the early NY/NJ/PA death metal scene. She was a promoter that gave a place for Incantation, Immolation, Goreaphobia, Mortician, Deceased and many more to play in a time when there were not many options for underground death metal. Enjoy a trip down Death Metal memory lane.
